This was a fun painting to do and a good learning experience. I was having a hard time getting a really dark cherry red. I finally just dipped into my black and mixed it with Perylene Maroon and it worked. Yay!

Gosh Sheila I thought this was a photo at first! You got those cherries bang on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Sheila! A perfect subject for the summer!
ReplyDeleteSheila, excellent use of watercolors! I thought this was acrylic or oil, so that says something about how evenly you've laid in these colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dark red! Thanks for mentioning your mix--I have a hard time with dark reds too and always avoid red Delicious apples!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous painting--the colors, the design: really great!
wonderful compostion!
ReplyDeleteSheila, it's a success, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGreat composition Sheila Lovely reds...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the reds!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done Sheila, the tones and shading are fantastic. Watercolors are not a forgiving sort of medium, and you handle them very well.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I love your cherries!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen a post from you for a while, Sheila. I do hope you are still producing art?
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such great art.
I echo Gary. I really enjoyed your creative style and energy. Hope to see you back here.
