Beloved Buddha

Finally finished this larger watercolor of Beloved Buddha 16x20. I had started the drawing last year, got started painting it early this year and then I've been working on it on and off for the past couple of weeks, tweaking it, now that I've got a digital shot of it I notice some dark spots on the right hand side, that I dont see on the original, so I'll go back and see what's that all about.
Enjoy!

  1. That's sort of what my post was about today.... a work of art that is a long one in the making! but that's just part of the fun, right! leaving something until you get back to it after a break...and then voila!

great colours, and your shading is dynamic!

  2. Wow, it's a beautiful piece and I admire your patience. I don't know much about watercolor, although I love the look, so I'd like to ask, how did you do the lighter blue-green circles and spirals in the background.

  5. Thank You everyone! I appreciate your comments.

Nazario: to get those lighter green circles, i used a paint brush and swirl it in a circle while the paint is still wet, you could use a small sponge and swirl it as well while paint is wet.

    Thanks for looking!

  7. Another powerful piece of work, which has a sort of timeless beauty about it. You must be very patient to spend so much time on a painting, I usually lose interest after a couple of hours on a project!
